  • Covid-19 Blues

Guys! Seriously? All I'm hearing at the moment is how many people are infecting other people through not being able to follow simple quarantine regulations! Now one of the biggest banks in my city is closed because several of the employees are infected! What did they think was going to happen? Opening the doors to potentially thousands of infected clients was always going to end in tears.

My father once told me, "Son, if you put your feet out from under the blankets, they will get cold!"
Hello! World! Listen to the words of a very wise man!

    Covid rant over for today!

    Stay safe!

  • People or Peoples

    Matthew Bates wrote:

“Peoples” is the plural of “people.” But that only works if you’re not using “people” as the plural of “person,” but rather as a term for members of a certain group.

    Like this:

The indigenous peoples of the Americas include the Cherokee, Maya, and Aztec.

The Cherokee are a “people,” as are the Maya and Aztec. When talking about those different groups of people collectively, they become “peoples.”

“Peoples” is not possessive, though. You need an apostrophe to show possession.

The people’s (peoples') favourite coffee is Starbucks.

    Comment by The Prof...

Why can't we use Peoples as a plural for people? Because people is the plural of person and you can't have a plural of a plural!
